Welcome to Cambodia House

Cambodia House is a not-for-profit business established in 1999 by Mary Read, proprietor of Reads of Woollahra, to present the products of Cambodia to the Australian market.

The Cambodia House Project:

What are we up to?

The purpose of Cambodia House has always been to support and encourage art and craft based producers in Cambodia and to build links with Australian businesses. Most of these groups were established by aid organisations to offer an income generation opportunity for those less fortunate than us.

Our initial goals have been reached and we have now built links with businesses to our producer groups in Cambodia.

Our continuing mission is to:

• Strengthen capacity and increase employment

• Stimulate ideas and support education

• Network individuals, groups and businesses

• Assist those who want to become involved in Cambodia

After 10 years working in Cambodia, wholesaling and retailing in Australia, UK and the USA we are now taking a broader view by extending our aims beyond our current activities.

We have introduced new buyers to Cambodia to support the projects we work with, maintaining & hopefully increasing their production output for the Australian market. This should lead to the products we have sold becoming available in a wider range of Australian stores in the future.

Online store:

Working with both tradtional and contemporary materials the range includes hand loomed silk products, recycled materials found in the market place and cottons.

Based around contmeporary living you will find an extensive and unique selection of home furnishings, cushions, handbags and fashion accessories.

Cambodia house is currently working with non-government organizations working with people with disabilities, urban poor, female land mine victims and rural youth. The project is based on income generation, independent living and training.
